Our History as a Trusted Detroit Customs Broker

Growth Through Air and Ocean Freight Forwarding

Trans-Overseas, Corporation was founded on September 1, 1978, as a licensed U.S. Customs Broker approved by the U.S. Treasury Department, Bureau of Customs. From the beginning, our mission has been to deliver reliable import services that drive growth and customer satisfaction.

In 1980, in addition to our customs brokerage, we expanded our capabilities by obtaining an IATA license for exporting airfreight shipments. As a result, we were able to take our first steps into freight forwarding. Shortly after, approval from the Federal Maritime Commission allowed us to operate as a licensed ocean freight forwarder, strengthening our global logistics solutions.

Expanding Near Detroit Metropolitan Airport

To accommodate this growth and meet the evolving needs of international shippers, we built a new 10-acre facility near Detroit Metropolitan Airport in 1985—strategically located to enhance our logistics and freight forwarding services.
